The Defense of Religious Freedom in the Catholic Magazine Vida Nueva during a Catholic Confessional Dictatorship

After the Second Vatican Council ended in 1965, and during a National Catholic dictatorship Spain, religious magazine Vida Nueva tried to support principles of freedom promoted by conciliar assembly. This study focuses on promotion liberties regime which political power was not separated from power. The conducts quantitative qualitative content analysis explore editorials published weekly between 1968 1975. results show impact editorial approach journal constrained Franco’s Regime. I that reflected thinking significant number Spanish readers; it deeply democratic religion, press, thought, association. Consequently, opposed repression Regime aimed for separation powers Church State, mainly so could preach promote its social thought public life.
